I was born in Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany. I attended kindergarten and grade school here. For secondary school, I attended the Karl Ziegler Gymnasium, however after completing 7th grade, I moved to the US.
I attended Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated with honors in 1999. For my Bachelor's degree, I attended Miami University in Oxford, OH. There I majored in Marketing and double minored in International Business and German Literature.
After my undergraduate studies, I spent a few months in NYC exploring the Big Apple and getting my feet wet in the marketing research industry. I returned back to Cincinnati, OH and joined DuBois Chemicals.
In 2008, I decided to pursue two graduate degrees and moved to Tampa, FL. I am currently attending the University of South Florida and completing a Master in Marketing and a Master in Business Administration (MBA). I have selected two MBA focus tracks, Sustainable Business Practices and Management.
In my spare time, I love to travel and discover new places. While traveling, I like to capture the sites and moments through photography.I have a passion for performing arts, especially musicals and dance. I enjoy working out, riding my bicycles (road and mountain) and running. All my life I have enjoyed various types of dance, including ballet, jazz, modern and ballroom.
Living in Florida, I absolutely love the beaches. My boyfriend Mikael and I just recently invested in a jet boat, so we try to get out on the water as much as possible. Since our families and friends are spread across the U.S. and Europe, we try to spend as much time as possible with everyone, near and far.

We love traveling to new places, exploring cities and learning about different cultures. And most of all, we love to travel to see our families and to spend time with them. I created, MikaelandNina's Travel Blog, to cover our travels and experiences. It is a way for our friends and family to join us on our trips, even when they cannot accompany us in person.

Nina's Green Blog
I host a blog titled "Nina's Green Blog", which I try to update on a regular basis. This blog serves as my portal to voice my opinion on sustainability related issues. Sometimes I blog about new products, other times I am just reacting to something I read. It is my way of showing concern for sustainability related issues and an active step to help raise awarenss among my peers. It is my hope that we will all eventually step up and take action to help preserve our planet and to create a sustainable society by adopting a Triple Bottom Line concept (People, Planet & Profits).
